North Bay Police have released their strategic plan.

It covers the 2017–2020 years.

Chief Shawn Devine says it has four pillars including supporting police employees, collaborating with community partners, providing a progressive and responsive service and policing with the trust and confidence of the people.

Devine says going into the process he thought the key pillar was sustainability of policing in the community but the committee putting this plan together changed his mind on what the top pillar should be and that is the people who work for city police.

Devine says working with the community is an essential part of policing whatever the issue may be.

He says they need help from other community organizations and need to move forward together.

Devine says there was plenty of community engagement in the process with 80 organizations offering input.

He says there was also internal input.

Devine says employees will be evaluated on the four pillars in the plan.

He says the plan is available to view on the North Bay Police web site at northbaypolice.ca or people can pick up a copy at the headquarters on Princess St.
