The province has announced live, free concerts in 23 communities to celebrate Ontario 150, but North Bay is not included.

Events are taking place in places like Huntsville, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Timmins and Blind River.

Three or more acts will play at each concert.

At least four of the acts are coming to North Bay, at paid events.

MAGIC! and Michelle Treacy with Summer In The Park and Tom Cochrane and Barenaked Ladies in separate shows next season at the Capitol Centre.

We reached out to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport to ask if there were any further announcements to be made or if there’s a statement on why North Bay is not on the free Ontario 150 Tour.

In an email reply, Media Relations Officer Denelle Balfour wrote, “ONtour includes stops in all four regions of Ontario. Our goal in selecting host communities was to make the ONtour concerts accessible to a broad population base, to be inclusive of both urban and rural residents and to bring ONtour to select communities that might not always have access to this calibre of performance. We are pleased that ONtour will visit two Indigenous communities, several communities with a significant Franco-Ontarian population and a community with a strong presence of military families.“
