A three-day conference starting on Thursday  is helping celebrate 40 years of neuroscience research at Nipissing University.

Professor of Psychology, Maati Saari says the talks will be focusing on a wide range of subjects from the brain to fighting retinal disease with stem cells.

He says the most intriguing part of the talks is almost every guest speaker is a NIpissing alumni.

“A lot of the speakers got turned on to neurosciences at a young age or at the under graduate level. It can be a life changing experience. As a professor and as someone who helps these kids come along, it’s a touching experience.”

Saari says having these 25 speakers come back and show the current students how to get by makes a big difference.

He says students can still achieve wonderful accomplishments even though they work out of a smaller institution.
