Even a partial eclipse drew a big crowd at the waterfront Monday afternoon.

Over 100 people gathered to get a glimpse of the eclipse through special sunglasses being handed out by the North Bay Astronomy Club.

Director Merlin Clayton says if you missed this one, there’s another more spectacular eclipse happening in the not too distant future.

“We’ve got a treat coming up in 2024, Toronto is the centre line.  Travel down there, get in the middle of where the cone shape lands and you’ll see the total eclipse” he says.

Clayton adds they ran out of special eclipse glasses in the first 15 minutes of Monday’s event.

North Bay’s peak viewing time was around 2:38 pm, with about 60 per cent totality, with other places across Canada having a much better view.

Victoria experienced 90 per cent totality while Calgary had 77 per cent.
