North Bay City Council passed its 2018 Capital Budget Tuesday night. Budget chief Sheldon Forgette says it’s about $500,000 more than last year.

“It’s looking at around 20 million dollars in spend and it could go up to the near 30’s with grants and other funding.”
Among the highlights: $52,000 for splash pad infrastructure, $114,000 for waterfront rehab, $94,000 for road maintenance downtown and $150,000 to replace paving stones downtown.

Council also adopted the 11-million dollar water and waste water capital budget but has yet to set the water rates for the year.

Forgette says the city is committing $100,000 in 2018 to the King’s Landing project.

“There’s still discussion on what option we’re going to pick whether we’re going to repair it or re-develop the entire area. The project is expected to be anywhere from a million to 13 million depending on what option we choose.”

Earlier it was revealed the city will be spending money on the arena project.
