After a split on the road against three Western Conference teams last weekend, the North Bay Battalion get back to divisional play tonight (Thursday) as they entertain Mississauga.

The Steelheads lead the 9th place Battalion by one point in the standings.

Coach Stan Butler says the next 6 games before the Christmas break will tell him a lot about his team moving forward.

“That’s something that I’ve talked to our leadership group about. I told them this not as the coach of the team but as the general manager. I need to see if we are an eastern conference contender as I look at our roster over the next month,” he says.

Butler also says now that Christian Propp (pictured) is healthy there’s a good competitive battle in goal, between Propp and Julian Sime.

“Now Julian is in a situation that when he does get his starts they better be good starts because if they’re not and the other guy’s playing well it’s going to lessen his playing time,” he says.

This is the 2nd meeting between the Troops and the Steelheads this season, with Mississauga winning 7-1 in October.

Broadcast time tonight on Country 600 CKAT is 6:55 pm.

The Battalion are also on the road to Sault Ste Marie tomorrow, then home to Barrie on Sunday.
