Santa Claus travels all over the world tonight (Sunday) and local military personnel at 22 Wing CFB North Bay will be making sure his Canada-wide journey is safe.

‘Charlie Flight’ Commander Major Kathleen Leaton says once Santa comes into Canadian airspace they’ll deploy CF-18’s to meet up with him.

“We’ll launch fighters out of their base and make sure Santa is correctly intercept, visually identified and we’ll provide an escort while he’s inside Canada,” she says.

She says kids can follow along tonight, too.

“Go to the website, which is noradsanta.org or they can call 1-877-Hi-NORAD. And if they’d like to call locally our number on the base is 705-494-2011 and the extension will be 6729,” she says.

This is the 62nd year NORAD has been involved in tracking Santa.
