The second half of the OHL season gets started tonight (Thursday) for the North Bay Battalion.

The Troops are eighth in the East as they host Niagara, one of the teams they’re chasing in the standings.

Head Coach Stan Butler says his team has been playing better over the last month or so as they work on securing a playoff spot.

“When you have an eight game winless streak earlier in the year, then a six-game as well, you dig yourself in a pretty deep hole. We have to try to stay as consistent as we have been lately and try and make up some ground on the teams ahead of us,” he says.

The Troops won the last outing between the two teams, 6-3 in St Catharine’s right before the break and Butler expects the IceDogs to be ready for them.

But, there may be a bit of rust too.

It’s going to be one of those funny games because you’ve been off for ten days and the boys had one practice. It’s almost like starting the pre-season again,” he says.

Catch tonight’s game on Country 600 CKAT starting at 6:55 pm.
