The second half of the season started off with a 3-2 overtime loss for the North Bay Battalion.

After Andy Baker and Brett McKenzie (pictured) tallied for the Troops, the Niagara IceDogs scored three unanswered goals, including one in the extra frame, to win the game.

Head Coach Stan Butler says his team played well and doesn’t foresee a losing streak out of this.

“Negative thoughts end up in negative results, (Friday) is a new day.  You have to have a short memory in this game, you have to go into practice with preparation and the guys have to be disappointed with the results and that much more determined to make sure it doesn’t happen again,”  he says.

Of note, McKenzie’s goal gives him 194 career points with the Troops, tied for 7th on the team’s all time points list.

With the single point in the overtime loss, North Bay is now two points ahead of Mississauga for the final playoff spot in the east.
