U-Haul is out with their annual top growth cities list and North Bay was fifth in Canada in 2017.

That’s unchanged from the previous year.

Officials say growth cities are calculated by the net gain of arriving one-way U-Haul trucks over departing one-way U-Haul trucks for a calendar year.

They say while migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, U-Haul growth data is an effective gauge of how well cities are attracting and maintaining residents.

Ottawa jumped nine spots to place first in 2017.

Kamloops, BC which was tops in 2016 isn’t even in the top 25 in 2017.
