Three men, ages 19-25, charged with stunt driving locally

Stunt driving changes have been filed against three men between the ages of 19 and 25 locally.

OPP say one incident, just before 2:30 Sunday morning on Hwy 11 in Callander involved a vehicle going nearly double the posted 100 km/h limit.

The other two incidents involved vehicles travelling over 60 km/h over the posted limit.

One was on Hwy 17 West last Thursday afternoon, just after 3:30 pm.

The other one was on Hwy 11 in Callander Saturday night around 8:30 pm.

All three drivers had their licences suspended for seven days and vehicles seized for seven days.

In a release, Sergeant Chris Summersby, Detachment Commander of the North Bay OPP, said he is “concerned about the time of day, excessive speed and the age of these drivers. Speeding and other forms of aggressive driving are dangerous behaviours and remain a leading cause of fatal motor vehicle collisions (MVC) on OPP-patrolled roads. Last week, the North Bay OPP investigated numerous motor vehicle collisions involving deer. If one of these vehicles hit a deer while travelling at these high speeds, the outcome for the driver and passengers in the vehicles could have been fatal. Please #DriveSmart.”
