The OUA season is over for the Nipissing Laker’s men’s hockey team.

This after a 6-1 loss to Queen’s in Kingston on Friday night, in game two of their best of three series.

Queen’s won game one 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday night in North Bay.

In women’s hockey, Nipissing won 2-1 in a shootout over Waterloo.

The Lakers wrap up the regular season with a game against Laurier at 4:30 pm at Memorial Gardens.

Nipissing is fourth in the standings.

 

In the Great North Midget League playoffs, the North Bay Major Midget Trappers won 6-3 over Timmins in the opening game of their playoff series.

Ryan Mills and Zack Lefebvre each scored twice in the win.

The Trappers host the Majors again tonight at 7:30 pm at Memorial Gardens.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos needed extra time to win 4-3 over Timmins on Friday night.

After falling behind 3-1 in the first, the Voodoos scored in the second and third periods to tie it up and force overtime.

Shane Beaulieu’s 20th goal of the season in double overtime gave Powassan the win.
