Habitat for Humanity Gateway North has a site for their next build in North Bay.

Spokesperson B.J. Szabicot says they’ve acquired a new property at 481 Algonquin Avenue.

Over the next several months he says they will refurbish and rebuild the property, with plans on housing a partner family this year.

That means they’ll need builders and tradespeople to help coordinate the refurbishment.

Szabicot says a lot of work needs to be done.

“New windows, new siding and new insulation. And all that will have to be done before we get a family put in there. It’ll be brought up to the habitat standards,” he says, pointing out work will begin soon.  “We’re going to be working very hard almost immediately right through the spring and summer. We know we’re going to have a family in there before the end of fall this year. That’s what we’re aiming for.”

Volunteers will also be needed when the time for construction comes.

Szabicot says they’ve been building habitat homes in North Bay since 2006 and this will be the seventh family they’ve worked with.
