North Bay Mayor Al McDonald says the city is well represented at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Convention going on in Toronto.

Yesterday he met with representatives from industry in Russia and Kazakhstan.

“Anytime you can get in front of delegates from major countries around the world to promote our industry and our businesses in North Bay it’s always an advantage,” he says.

He says last year Invest North Bay signed a memorandum of understanding with an area in Russia called Yakutia, and this year a delegation from Kazakstan will be coming to North Bay as a result of attending this convention.

“We’re having a delegation from Kazakhstan visit us in two weeks. They’ll get a tour of the city and meet with top local mining executives,” he says.

McDonald says it’s important to go to events like this so international mining companies learn about the role local mining supply companies, like Cementation and Redpath, play in the industry.
