Seniors in North Bay have a new way to get around the city.

The Thomson Financial Partners are donating a small bus to Cassellholme to help seniors stay mobile.

Partner with the group, Ted Thomson says it was an opportunity to give back the community they couldn’t pass on.

“One of the biggest problems in the community for seniors is transportation and since I’m a seniors myself, who knows? Maybe I’ll need it myself one day. It was a great opportunity for us to make a presentation to the community and give back to seniors,” he says.

The 74 year-old along with his son, Eric Thomson, and partners Chris Winrow and Rob Fry, were proud to give back.

Meanwhile, Cassellholme CEO, Jamie Lowery says this new bus will be serving more than just residents.

“It’s actually primarily for seniors living alone in their homes. The target market for this service are seniors alone in their homes and receiving services for our community support groups,” Lowery says.  “A lot of our clients don’t qualify for the parabus and this helps with their transportation needs. All the clietns we have are going to be vetted through our systems and the other component will be planned excursions.  We’ll have regular bank days and grocery days during the week.”

The bus is expected to hit the road by July 1st.
