Scotiabank’s Lakeshore Drive location in the Nipissing Plaza is closing effective September 26th.

Bank communications officials in Toronto say changing customer needs and preferences are driving profound changes for banks around the world, pointing out customers are increasingly choosing to do banking online and mobile.

They say 80 percent of transactions in Canada now take place outside the branch.

Staffing plans with the local consolidation have not been finalized yet.

Officials also say the hours of operation at the Northgate branch will be increasing.

Letters to customers with details of the consolidation will be distributed on May 11, 2018.
