Several events on the go today

Over 250 spectators, renowned artists and models are taking in the 6th annual Hair Competition and Show today (Sunday) at the Best Western.

Modern College of Hairstyling and Esthetics and KAO Canada are putting on the event with various competitions from 8 am through 3 pm.

A reception and gala event goes this evening.

200 runners and walkers are taking part in the Maple Hill Sap Run today in Powassan.

The 5 KM Run/Walk and Children’s 500 Meter events are supporting kids recreation at the 250 Clarke Community Centre and kids mental health programs at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

It’s Healthy Kids Day at the North Bay YMCA.

From healthy eating tips to physical activities and games, the day is all about families trying out programs and facilities at the Y for free.

The event runs from noon to 3 pm with an open swim from 2pm to 4:30pm.

There’s also the Easter Seals Telethon from 2pm to 7pm on YourTV Channel 12 and 700.

The five-hour fundraiser looks to help Easter Seals provide funding for essential mobility equipment for children with physical disabilities and opportunities to attend a fully accessible summer camp, and more.
