After guiding the North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers to back to back 30 win seasons, Guy Blanchard will be back behind the bench again next season.

Blanchard tells BayToday there’s a couple reasons he wanted to stay on.

“I have been giving it a lot of thought, it is a good group of players and parents that have come through the system and Mike Stockfish has done a great job with these guys bringing them to this level,” he said. “Once again we are trying to get these programs going and I felt I had one more year before I turned 60 to be able to coach. After that, I am not sure if I am too much of an overage to coach but certainly we are going to give it one more year and see what all comes about.”

The Trappers have a solid core of players, five of which were chosen by the North Bay Battalion in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.

Earlier former Battalion player Calvin Gomes was named the new head coach for the Minor Midget AAA team.
