This week is Mining Week in North Bay.

Those in the industry will be highlighting the impact of mining in our community and on our local economy.

Rachel Cranford is the chair of the organizing committee.

“With over 65 companies providing supplies and services to the industry we want to be able celebrate that,” she says.

She says the mining industry plays a key role in the local economy.

“Mining brings vast numbers of jobs to our economy from the trades to engineering to accounting services,” Cranford says.

She says the events this week include a guest speaker at a Canadian Institute for Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Northern Gateway Branch event, a trivia night on Mining at the Raven and Republic and a murder mystery dinner evening with a mining theme at the Davedi Club.
