The School of Nursing at Nipissing University is getting big boost to their program.

The department is receiving $105,000 from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario to implement Best Practice Guidelines to their curriculum. Best Practice Spotlight Organization are health-care and academic organizations sleected bt the RNAO to put into use and evaluate the organization’s best practice guidelines.

Nursing school director, Dr Karey McCullough says there are 50 best practice guidlines, but their introducing five into their program.

“Fall prevention, Assessment and Management of Pain, Engaging Clients with Substance Abuse, Person and Family Centered Care and Pressure Ulcer Prevention. These were the five we identified in our assessment of the program as being the most relevant to today’s curriculum and needs of the community. They’re already embedded into the program.”
