The provincial ringette championships will be held where the sport was invented next year.

The 2019 event will be hosted by the West Ferris Ringette Association.

Organizers say up to a thousand athletes are expected here for the 4 day event next March.

Ringette was invented in 1963 by city parks and rec director Sam Jacks and is now played around the world in more than 12 countries.

You can expect to see between 70-80 teams and more than 200 games with players between the ages of 12-20 competing.

Games will be be played in North Bay, Astorville, Powassan, Trout Creek, South River and Sundridge.
