North Bay native Dave Innes will be quite busy at the Invictus Games next month in Australia.

He is entered in 3 sports including powerlifting.

“I’ve always been passionate about that. Indoor rowing was something I’ve never done so it’s something I wanted to try and wheelchair basketball is something I enjoy as well, ” he says.

Innes says preparation for the games has taken over his life.

“It’s a lot of training as it’s 6 days a week of training. My rowing compliments my powerlifting so that helps. I’ve recently gone back to college so I have that on my plate too,” Innes says.

The Canadian team will have 40 athletes competing and there will be 500 athletes from 18 countries overall.

Innes told BayToday he’s received lots of support from the community and it’s overwhelming.

CFB North Bay had a sendoff for Innes on Friday.
