The exhibition schedule came to a close Sunday for the North Bay Battalion, with a 4-1 loss in Owen Sound.

A day earlier the Troops beat the Attack 7-4 at Memorial Gardens (pictured).

The Battalion open the regular season on home ice Friday night against the Hamilton Bulldogs, the defending OHL champs.

 

The Powassan Voodoos put their perfect 4-0 record on the line tonight (Monday) on home ice.

They’re home to French River at 7 o’clock at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos beat Hearst 8-2 on Friday and Cochrane 4-2 on Saturday.

 

In OUA men’s hockey, the Nipissing Lakers won twice over Laurentian in pre-season play on the weekend.

The Lakers won 3-0 on Friday here in North Bay and 3-2 in overtime yesterday in Sudbury.

In women’s soccer, Nipissing scored a weekend split on the road.

After a 1-nil loss to Carleton, the Lakers won 3-1 over Ottawa yesterday.

On the men’s side, the Lakers only played once on the weekend, losing 4-nil to Carleton.

 

In NDA senior football last Friday, a rematch of last year’s NDA final ended in a draw.

St Joseph-Scollard Hall and West Ferris tied 22-22.

Elsewhere, Franco Cite won 30-19 over Chippewa while Algonquin defeated Widdifield 16-8.
