Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has announced $768,000 in provincial funding.
The money is earmarked for 5 seperate projects including $425,000 for H and M Enterprise to purchase equipment and to expand its local operation, $128,000 for Odyssey Fluid Power to renovate its building, $92,000 for the Capitol Centre to help pay for its sound system, $87,000 to Epiroc Canada to establish a research and development team and $36,000 to Discovery Routes to support a marketing strategy.

Fedeli says 16 jobs will be created thanks to this funding.

“This is an important message to let people know that Northern Ontario is part of our open for business thrust that we are on. There is money flowing here into Northern Ontario so businesses can expand,” he says.

Katina Connolly is executive director of the Capitol Centre. She says the improved sound quality is having a positive impact on their business.

“It allows us to market our facility a little bit better and attract more performers for rental purposes. It ensures that everybody gets that same experience wherever they’re sitting in the theatre,” Connolly says.

Owner Glenn Whyte of Odyssey Fluid Power says the funds are being put to good use.

“It allows us to do a proper expansion to our business. We’ve acquired a new building as a result and we’re renovating it and as a result we’re going after work in Ontario and around the world,” he says.
