A holiday tradition is back on the air tomorrow (Saturday).

The 72nd annual Lion’s Children’s Christmas Telethon is being broadcast on YourTV North Bay channels 12 and 700 and on Country 600 CKAT.

It’s also being live streamed online at canadoretv.com with viewing parties at Highlander Brewery on Hwy 124 in South River and at the Royal Canadian Legion in Kearney.

Chair Gary Verge says their fundraising goal is $40,000.

“Last year we serviced over 400 families in the outlying district and this year we suspect the number will go a little higher. $40,000 will give us a break-even and some start-up money for next year “ he says.

Families receive a holiday meal and gifts.

Verge says the telethon runs from 2 pm to 11 pm tomorrow with a variety of local entertainers performing.

“Young kids choirs and dance troupes through to more older and professional musicians who will be singing a melody of Christmas songs throughout the nine hours of the telecast,” he says.

Pledges have already been coming in online, with a couple telephone numbers for people to call tomorrow.
