A white ribbon campaign launched at Nipissing

Nipissing University has launched a white ribbon campaign.

The goal of the campaign is to end gender based violence against women and girls.

Katie Sills the university’s sexual violence prevention and education co-ordinator says the campaign calls on men and boys to stand up and be counted on the issue.

“In bringing it to campus it encourages male identified folks to join the movement and to stand up against gender based violence when they see it whether it’s in person or on line,” she says.

On hand for the ceremony launching the campaign were North Bay Mayor Al McDonald, Nipissing University student union representatives and university president Dr. Mike De Gagne and they all signed the pledge at the ceremony.
