The North Bay Battalion couldn’t hold on to a two goal, third period lead, dropping a 5-4 decision to Sarnia on Sunday afternoon.

Sarnia scored twice in the final two minutes to send the game to over time, where the winning goal came at the 3-minute mark.

Despite the loss being their third in a row, Battalion Assistant Coach Adam Dennis says overall the effort was better for the Troops.

“I thought it was a better game than we’ve played in a little while I thought we deserved more than the one point, but sometimes that’s hockey and it doesn’t always go the way you want,” Dennis says.

Regardless of the result, he says they need as many points as they can get right now.

“We all know how bunched up the standings are, I do think it’s a bit of a shame we can’t come out with two tonight, I think our guys put in an effort that probably deserved two, but we’ll take a point certainly. Better than zero,” Dennis says.

The Battalion got goals from Brandon Coe, Simon Rose, Justin Brazeau and Harrison Caines.

Next up, North Bay is home to Flint on Thursday.
