Last week the flood warning for the North Bay area was extended to today and we’re waiting to hear if it’ll be extended again.

The warning was put in place over a month ago.

Yesterday, the Conservation Authority said water levels in Mattawa are slowly decreasing but there’s still a chance they can rise.

On Lake Nipissing, levels were up over the past few days, but may begin to decline again as the week progresses.

 

An announcement is coming today at Canadore College involving the Canadian Coast Guard.

MP Anthony Rota will be announcing a Coast Guard contribution to aerotechnical training.

 

The spring sitting of the Alberta legislature officially begins today with a speech from the throne, quickly followed by the introduction of a bill to end the provincial carbon tax.

Ontario Finance Minister and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli met with his Alberta counterpart in Edmonton yesterday.

Fedeli also had a meeting with Alberta’s new Premier Jason Kenney.

 

A free evening of workshops and a keynote address are lined up for the 19th Annual Carousel Evening tonight at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.

The theme is “Building Bridges”.

The event is hosted by the Special Education Advisory Committee and the Parent Involvement Committee at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board.

 

And Sudbury’s second pot store is opening later this week.

Highlife opens its doors on Marcus Drive on Friday.

The shop is the second last of Ontario’s 25 cannabis stores to get its licence to open.

Officials say 700 people applied for the 42 jobs at the store. The workers are called Bud Tenders.
