Nipissing West OPP have made two impaired driving related arrests.

One happened on Monday morning in Sturgeon Falls with a 16 year old Sturgeon Falls youth being charged.

Police say the single vehicle collision resulted in a vehicle hitting a light post and the three people in the vehicle were not injured.

The 16 year old was also charged with careless driving.

The other was on Saturday night on Highway 17 in Verner with a 25 year old Sudbury motorist charged.

Both motorists were issued 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspensions and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

(In Canada illegally charges)

Powasssan OPP have charged seven people under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Police say they stopped a vehicle last week for stunt driving on Highway 11 in Powassan.

Police say a 26-year-old from Mexico, living in North Bay; a 28-year-old from Mexico, residing in Toronto; and a 19-year-old from Chile, who had also been residing in Toronto, were found to be in Canada illegally.

The 26 year old was also charged with stunt driving.

Later, police located four other residents from Mexico who were living in North Bay and all seven will be processed under Canadian immigration laws.

Police say the additional four were arrested for not having status in Canada and were taken to the North Bay Jail.

(break-in)

Nipissing West OPP have charged a Sturgeon Falls man and are seeking an arrest warrant for another suspect after a recent break-in.

Police say just after 11 pm last Thursday they responded to a call about suspicious people near the Minnehaha Bay Marina.

Police found the restaurant was broken into and two suspects running from the scene.

A 19 year old Sturgeon Falls man was arrested while the canine unit assisted in the search for the second person. Police say the investigation has revealed that person’s identity.

Nipissing West OPP say there have been four domestic related incidents in the last week.

Charges have been laid in three of them following complaints in Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay and Cartier.

Charges have been laid in three of the cases while an arrest warrant has been issued in the other one.

The OPP will not be releasing the names of accused persons in order to protect the identity of the victim.
