Three people, including a nine day old baby, were treated and released from hospital with smoke inhalation after a residential fire on Friday night.

City fire crews were called to a four unit apartment building on the 400 block of McIntyre Street East on Friday night, with one of the units on fire when crews arrived on the scene.

Fire officials say the tenant was cooking with oil and left it unattended.

The building had working smoke alarms which alerted the residents to the danger.

Damage to the apartment is said to be significant.
