North Bay Police Chief Scott Tod says there is a new trend in policing of not having enough officers available to do the job.

He told BayToday North Bay is no different than much of the country.

“Members will experience significant traumatic events in their policing careers and that may affect their health and their well being and we will expect to see a increase in members who are away from work due to their illnesses,” he says.

Tod says they’re looking to hire six or seven new constables this year but it’s not easy because there’s a lot of police services in the same boat so there’s lots of options for the recruits,
