Former Premier Mike Harris thinks the current premier is doing a good job during COVID-19.

Harris in North Bay to take part in the Osprey Links Charity Golf gala told BayToday after struggling in his first year Doug Ford has met this crisis head on.

“These are trying times. I’m proud of him, he listens and he consults. I’m very proud on how he has learned on the job,” Harris says.

Mike Harris thinks the Ontario Government and specifically Premier Ford has a good back to school plan.

“He has listened carefully to the health and safety officials and balancing the issue of no school versus school. There’s options in the plan for different boards and different circumstances,” he said.

Harris says he’s seen no one has a better plan of return to school anywhere in North America.

Funds raised from this event support local cancer care.

Harris says he’s glad to support this event.

Officials say they raised $34,500 from this event this year and overall, the gala has raised more than $400,000 for medical equipment needs at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
