More local high school students are going to the octomester model.

In a letter to parents, officials at St Joseph-Scollard Hall say students will take one subject per day for 22 or 23 days, remaining in the same classroom at the same desk.

They’ll move on to the next subject once that credit is complete.

Originally, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic Board planned for quadmesters, but the Education Ministry advised that changes were needed to further reduce student contacts.

Officials say all updates and changes are done to support their top priority, which is health and safety.

The Near North Board has also moved to the octomester model.
