Tough news for Nipissing University athletes as the OUA has cancelled all sports until March 31st of next year.

Chair of the OUA Board of Directors, Dr. Deborah MacLatchy says the health of student-athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and fans remains the OUA’s number one priority, and after significant consultation with

members and advisors, it has been determined that OUA sport cannot be delivered prior to March 31st.

Nationally, U SPORTS has confirmed the cancellation of all national championships for the 2nd Term.

Vito Castiglione is the Director of Athletics at Nipissing.

He says this is disappointing news for everyone, but the health and safety of the Lakers community remains paramount.

Castiglione says student-athletes at Nipissing has been informed of the decision and the university will continue to follow its Return to Train plan which is informed by public health guidelines.

He says student-athletes are still encouraged to return to campus to continue to engage in aspects of a safe Lakers athletics sport program that have been in place since September.
