The downward trend for a host of crime areas continued in August.
Sexual offences, robberies, stolen vehicles and theft under $5,000 charges are all down.
Deputy Police Chief Michael Daze says break and enters were down when compared to August last year.
“We are still trending a little bit upwards year to date, we’re up about 13 percent overall. But it is good to see some of those numbers from June, July and August come down in that area,” he says.
August also saw a decrease in assault charges compared to the same month in 2019, and are trending about the same year to date.
Mischiefs were up in August.
“Overall, the criminal offences we are still seeing an increase, there’s a five percent increase that we’ve seen and the calls for service is a two and a half percent increase,” Daze says.
The stats were presented at this week’s virtual North Bay Police Services Board meeting.
