The North Bay Public Library is offering in person services starting Thursday but the curbside service will remain in place.

CEO Ravil Veli details how it will work.

“Curbside will continue on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Fridays. We will be open for service where people can come into the library to browse and borrow materials on Tuesday’s Thursday’s and Friday’s,” he says.

The hours for in person are 10 am-7 pm on Tuesday and Thursday and 10 am- 3 pm on Saturday.

As well, because of COVID-19 there will be other restrictions including capacity limits for the building, adequate spacing so 2 meter distances are maintained, no food or beverages except for covered water bottles and the obligatory use of face coverings on the nose, mouth and chin.

Also, access to Wi-Fi will be available only on the mezzanine floor for 50 minute sessions and public internet computer use will be limited for 50 minute sessions.

Customers are allowed to browse fiction, non-fiction and audio visual items on all floors.

He says people will notice no tables and chairs except for the computer area.

“We’ve removed all of the soft seating and all the tables and chairs. And that’s to ensure that people are there to browse and collect materials or use the computer servers,”Veli says.

He says they haven’t served the public in person since they started the renovations before COVID-19 so they’re excited to do that again.

“We’ve been seeing them at the door or through the door through our curbside service. And other than people being happy with curbside customers have been looking forward to coming in and browsing for their materials themselves,” Veli says.
