The North Bay Fire Department says conduction of heat from an exhaust chimney to the roof structure and insulation appears to be the cause of a fire yesterday at Atlantic Power on Highway 11 North.

The electrical generating station is not currently in operation.

Officials say damage has pegged at $75,000.

Ina release, the fire department says upon arrival fire crews located a fire in the walls and roof systems of a generator room.

They say firefighters were able to forcibly open the walls and roof and extinguish the fire that had traveled in many directions behind siding and the roof membrane.

The fire department says they were on the scene for four hours.
