A better than projected year for building permits

The strong building permit numbers continue in North Bay.

Total year-to-date building value is just under $68-million in the City of North Bay.

Mayor Al McDonald says “Despite a slow global economy, North Bay construction values are $12.9-million more than projected.”

He also says they’re cautiously optimistic that next year will see further growth and investment over and above 2015 numbers.

Of note, the residential sector has seen the same number of builds as 2014, yet value of is up by $5-million.

The number of single family dwellings has increased to 31.

In terms of the breakdown, the commercial sector continues to lead the way with over $26.6-million in construction, followed by $23.6-million in residential.

Industrial is about $11.6-million while the Institutional sector is at about $5.3-million.

Miscellaneous projects total over $750,000.
