City police report four people from North Bay have been charged after a stolen vehicle fled police and ended up in a ditch on Birches Road yesterday (Monday).

Police say they tried to pull over the black Mercedes sedan on Pinewood Park Drive, but it took off at a high rate of speed, turned onto Birches Road and went into the ditch.

The four people inside tried to flee the area, but police found them and arrested them without incident.

Several city police officers and the OPP Canine Unit were involved.

A quantity of drugs, including methamphetamine pills and marijuana, was also seized.

Two men and two women, between the ages of 20 and 22 are facing several charges.
