A graduating Powassan Voodoos forward is heading to division three NCAA.

Brandon MacKinnon (pictured) has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin.

He was traded to the Voodoos from Stouffville in December.

MacKinnon scored eight goals and collected 18 assists for 26 points in 27 regular season games.

“I’m really excited to announce that I’ve committed to Concordia University-Wisconsin,” said MacKinnon. “I want to thank the Aurora Tigers, Stouffville Spirit and the entire Voodoo’s organization, the coaching staff, GM Chris Dawson, former AGM Mike Mackley for bringing me down there, and the best owners a player could ask for Jim Bruce and the Rivet Brothers. Could not ask for a better place to finish juniors.”

Still with hockey, former NHLer and North Bay Centennial Vitali Yachmenev is heading to the KHL, in Russia.

He has taken on an assistant coaching role with Ufa.

Yachmenev joined the Powassan Voodoos as an assistant coach late last season.
