Mattawa OPP reporting a dog attacked a small child on Saturday.

Around 6:30pm, a mother and her 22 month old son were on their way to the Mattawa Santa Claus Parade.

The child was in a stroller and while walking on Park Street a large black dog lunged into the stroller and attacked the child. The child sustained severe injuries to his face before the mother could pull the dog away, and the child was brought to hospital for medical attention.

Police canvassed the area unable to locate the dog, who also had pointed ears and short fur.
