Canadore ESL Programs Have Been Approved

Two programs at Canadore College have been given approval for students to be given credentials for taking the courses.

They are the Basic Language Skills Program and the English as a Second Language Program.

VP of Academics Dr. Marguerite Donohue says students can move from program to program as they progress.

Donohue says the BSL program can move into the ESL program which can then go into the English for Academic Purposes Program which truly prepares students for post-secondary programs.

She says they can bring in a student who has never spoken English and have them graduate from the College becoming completely fluent.

Donohue says students do not have to choose a program at Canadore upon receiving this certificate but many do grow comfortable with their surroundings and choose to continue their education at the College.
