Local Sea Cadets and the Navy League are hosting an open house tomorrow (Saturday), detailing all of the free programming they offer for youth, and answering questions parents may have.

The event goes from 9 am to 5 pm at Fort Chippewa Barracks, with static displays, staff and cadets on hand.

Both programs offer youth the opportunity to learn in a nautical environment:

Sea Cadets – Power Boating, Sailing, SCUBA Diving, In-Water Training, Canoeing, Seamanship, Marksmanship, Leadership, Team Work, Drill, Camping, Orienteering, Band & so much more.

Navy League – Semaphore, Team Competitions, Seamanship, Leadership, Team Work and so much more.

Cadets can also earn their high school volunteer service hours and apply to earn high school credits.

Sea Cadets is for youth 12-18 with Navy League Cadets for youth ages nine to 11.
