A huge win for the football program at École secondaire Franco-Cité in Sturgeon Falls.

“Hey Franco Cite, I want to extend a huge congratulations on being selected as an ’18 in 18′ Riddell Smarter Football equipment grant winner,” says brand ambassador Peyton Manning in a congratulatory message to Franco-Cité .

“Your ability to continue to grow your program amongst larger schools is a testament to what you are doing on the field to improve the game,” he says.

Officials say the program at Franco is dedicated to staying up-to-date on the latest drills to help teach smarter tackling and blocking techniques.

They also offer a camp for 7th and 8th graders to learn the basics of proper tackling and blocking before they transition to the high school team.

They’re the only team in Canada to win.

About 1,400 teams applied for the grants.
