Artists, musicians and comedians are joining forces for a sold out event tonight to have fun and help others.

The ‘Look, Listen and Laugh (Because Dementia Sucks)’ event goes at the Grande Event Centre.

An online auction with over 30 pieces of art and services will continue until September 21st at smalltowntimes.ca.

All proceeds are going to the Alzheimer Society’s respite services in North Bay. D

onations can also be made online, directly to the Alzheimer Society.

 

A ‘glow in the dark’ event that benefits youth with Autism in the North Bay area goes tonight (Friday) at the Pinewood Park Golf Course.

It’s the 7th annual Parents Lending Autistic Youth Support Association’s glow in the dark golf tournament.

Proceeds are going towards respite services, programs and promoting Autism awareness in the community.

 

One Kids Place is hosting a free outdoor movie and barbecue tonight in the yard of the Children’s Treatment Centre on McKeown Avenue.

They’re showing The Incredibles 2 and serving hot dogs and popcorn.

Kids activities start at 6 pm with the movie starting at dusk.

 

500 new trees are being planted at the Chippewa Creek EcoPath tomorrow (Saturday).

The Conservation Authority says over 20 volunteers will be taking part.

The local event is one of 100 happening across Canada as a part of the ninth annual TD Tree Days.

The planting will help provide more tree cover for the city and help reduce run-off to Chippewa Creek.

 

The inaugural ‘Skip n’ Roll for Stuffies’ event is taking place tomorrow at One Kids Place.

Kids and families are being invited to either skip rope or roll around an easy track, pledging to bring a brand new stuffed animal or doll.

They will then be donated to several organizations to go to children in crisis.

Registration is at 9 am.

Any monetary donations will be split between the North Bay Food Bank’s kids packs program and the loan equipment program at One Kids Place.

 

The Terry Fox Run goes Sunday morning at the North Bay waterfront.

The event gets underway with The Studio leading the warm-up at 8:30 am.

Participants have until noon to complete either a 5K or 10K walk/run.

Registration can be done online at terryfox.org or onsite at the Rotary Pavillion on Sunday morning.

All money raised goes to support cancer research through the Terry Fox Research Institute.

 

The North Bay Kidney Walk goes Sunday morning in Lee Park and along the Kate Pace Way.

Officials are raising awareness and funds to support their friends and neighbours living with kidney disease.

Registration starts at 9 am with the walk getting underway at 10.
