Kyle Wood Battalion (PHOTO BY GREG KOLZ) (Photo by Greg Kolz) Defenseman Kyle Wood (pictured) is expected to make his season debut when the North Bay Battalion hosts the Kingston Frontenacs tonight (Thursday).

Wood has been out all year with a hand injury he suffered last season.

The Battalion come into the game with a 9-8-1-1 record and Head Coach Stan Butler says that isn’t a bad record considering all the injuries the team has had, and continues to have.

He says “our call-up goalie from the Powassan Voodoos almost got his finger cut off by a skate and then another one of our players lost a tooth, it’s probably not a safe place to be in our dressing room these days.”

Regardless of the injuries the team has won three of its last four games, the lone loss in that stretch was a 4-1 victory for the Frontenacs.

The last time the Troops saw the Frontenacs they were outshot 17-3 in the first, and Butler says it was a dismal effort in Kingston.

Butler says with the team winning three of its last four, and defenseman Kyle Wood returning from injury, they should be much more competitive tonight.

Broadcast time is 6:35pm.
