Housing starts in North Bay this year are outpacing 2017.

Canada Mortgage and Housing reports 47 starts to the end of October, which is 18 more than last year at the same time.

However, most of this year’s starts involve apartments, with 39.

There’s only eight single dwelling units.

That’s down from 25 single dwelling starts last year.

2017 also saw four semi-detached starts.

As for dwellings that are under construction, there’s a total of 94 to the end of October.

That includes 48 apartments,28 single dwelling units, 16 row and two semi-detached.
