An investigation into allegations a local youth brought an imitation handgun to a city high school has led to charges.

North Bay Police were contacted after school officials acted on the information.

Police say the investigation alleges the young person was in possession of an imitation handgun and a flick knife.

The weapons have been seized and the youth is facing five charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

The youth has a December court appearance.

North Bay Police advise that the information involving the imitation handgun being at a school was dated information. When school officials acted on this information police were contacted. Safety procedures have been and continue to be accessed and practised for the safety of participants in our school system.

In accordance with Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name, or any other information, that may lead to the identification of the accused.
