A million dollars is flowing from the province to Nipissing First Nation for a new office complex.

MPP Vic Fedeli announced the funding on Friday.

Fedeli says the 10,000-square-foot multi-tenant building will be built along Highway 17, creating 10 full-time jobs and drive local economic growth.

He says one section will house an educational head office while the other will host a small business incubator with commercial space for local entrepreneurs.

“This is about good paying jobs for the future. A business incubator with the education component are really going to be really important pieces,” he says.

He says he thinks more than than the 10 jobs will be created because this investment has both educational and business components to it.

The office is expected to open in the spring of next year.

Nipissing First Nation Chief Scott McLeod says there’s no shortage of interest in this project.

“We have a lot of potential businesses that want to house their business there. It is a high profile location and it is a very professional looking building,” McLeod says.

McLeod says one of their goals is to keep young people in the community and this project can help accomplish that.
