Council gives approval to sidewalk patio application process

Downtown business owners in North Bay can start applying to build a Sidewalk Patio for their restaurant or cafe.

Council passed the motion which also waives the $400 application fee. Councillor Daryl Vaillancourt says they want to encourage people to build the patios and that fee would have been a deterrent.

He says there is no downside to building patios in the downtown core.

As well successful applicants will receive up to $1,000 from the Downtown Community Improvement Plan towards construction costs.
